These are the Welterweight VALOR Amateur Rankings (156-170 LBS) as of October 2015.
1. Kadrean Brewser
Association: National Martial Arts
Height: 6'1”
City: Oak Ridge, Tennessee
Record: 4-2
Most Recent Fight: def. Alan Stewart, Rd. 1 TKO, October 2014, Volunteer Brawl 2
Next Fight: TBA
Analysis: Has only fought twice in the last two years, most recently put on the shelf due to injuries. His stand up and aggressive style makes him the top welterweight in the region. Rumored fights with Jason Kubik and Jerry Bentley have fallen through and a recent motorcycle injury has left us wondering when we'll see Brewster back in the VALOR cage.
2. Travis Conner
Association: Reaction MMA
Height: 5'10"
City: Lexington, Kentucky
Record: 6-2
Most Recent Fight: Loss to Kevin Snyder, Rd. 2 Sub (RNC), September 2015
Next Fight: TBA
Analysis: Conner earned a future shot at the 170 title back in the 3FC days with a big win against Irvin Jones. Since then, Conner has won fights on many different promotions including Las Vegas' Tuff-N-Uff, one of the top amateur promotions in the US. A planned title shot againts Abramski was scrapped after Abramski pulled out due to injury.
3. Bruce Abramski
Association: Star City Fight Club
Height: 5'10"
City: Roanoke, Virginia
Record: 8-6
Most Recent Fight: def. Bodie Price, Rd. 2 TKO, May 2015, APEX Fights VI
Next Fight: TBA
Analysis: He made a splash in his VALOR and Tennessee MMA debut at APEX 6 when he used his explosive ground and pound to finish Bodie Price in the 2nd round. With the win, he earned a future shot at the 170 title in which he was forced to pull out from in late-August.
4. Trevor Wilds
Association: Newport Combat Club
Height: 5'8"
City: Newport, Tennessee
Record: 3-0
Most Recent Fight: def. Roger Mullins, Rd. 1 Sub (Arm Lock), July 2014, Evolution Combat
Next Fight: vs. Lance Abbott (November 14th - Kingsport, TN)
Analysis: Although not in the top three of the division, many locals will argue that Wilds is the top pound for pound fighter in the region. Wilds though has been very inactive, but recently announced he was returning, but yet another setback as a large cut over his eye forced him to pull out of his August fight.
5. Mitchell Fleming
Association: Bushido MMA
Height: 5'9"
City: Church Hill, Tennessee
Record: 5-0
Most Recent Fight: Def. Colton Durham, Rd. 1 Sub (RNC), August 2015, VALOR 25
Next Fight: TBA
Analysis: The undefeated Fleming has made a name for himself in Virginia and made his promotional debut in August against Colton Durham with his 4th RNC victory. Fleming was orginally scheduled to fight Trevor Wilds, but Wilds was forced to withdraw due to injury. The two will likely be rebooked this Fall, but when or where has yet to be determined.
6. Joey Desanto
Association: Team Enigma
Height: 5'10”
City: Bristol, Tennessee
Record: 2-0
Most Recent Fight: def. Anthony Holsclaw, Rd. 1 KO, March 2015, APEX Fights 5
Next Fight: TBA
Analysis: He is already 2-0 in his career and hasn't hit the age of 20 yet. Coming off a very impressive first round knock out victory over Anthony Holsclaw at APEX 5 in March, DeSanto has now pulled out of back to back fights due to injury.
7. Timmy Eisenbraun
Association: Bonafyde MMA
Height: 6'1”
City: Nashville, Tennessee
Record: 4-3
Most Recent Fight: def. Judd Brown, Un. Dec., May 2014, 3FC XXI
Next Fight: TBA
Analysis: Timmy Eisenbraun proably deserves to be in the top five, but inactivity has him pushed down on the rankings. Eisenbraun recently switched gyms to Bonafyde MMA and knocked some rust off by kickboxing in July. It's unknown when he'll return to MMA where he's a former champion at 170.
8. Michael Horton
Association: Stryker
Height: 5'11”
City: Richlands, Virginia
Record: 2-0
Most Recent Fight: def. Devyn Chambers, Rd.1 Sub., Verbal Sub., Jan. 10th, 2015, APEX Fights 4
Next Fight: TBA
Analysis: Is only two fights into his amateur career, but has been victorious in both with both also being two pretty impressive victories. Hasn't been very active, but if he can start getting in the cage more consistently, he could easily move up the rankings.
9. Steven Stevens
Association: Shield Systems
Height: 5'9”
City: Knoxville, Tennessee
Record: 2-0
Most Recent Fight: def. Chris Berrier, Un. Dec., Feb. 21st, 2015, Valor Fights 20
Next Fight: TBA
Analysis: One of the best strikers in the amateur welterweight division and has used that to go 2-0 so far in his amateur mma career. Last fought in February picking up a unanimous decision victory over Chris Berrier at Valor Fights 20. Most recently, picked up his first kickboxing win, but a return to MMA in October looks likely.
10. Drew Morelli
Association: Striker Fight Center
Height: 6'0”
City: Woodstock, Georgia
Record: 2-0
Most Recent Fight: def. Antonio Johnson, Rd. 2 Sub., (RNC), March 2015, Valor Fights 21
Next Fight: TBA
Analysis: Undefeated in his amateur career at 2-0 most recently picking up a rear-naked choke submission victory at Valor Fights 21 over Antonio Johnson. Coming out of one of the top gyms in Georgia, Morelli has a bright future.
